Engineering – LEED Certified

J.E. Shekell, Inc. provides clients with efficient cost-effective engineering and drafting services. The scope of our work encompasses the HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical engineering disciplines supported by a team of in-house application, design, installation and service professionals.

Our design professionals convey in schematic fashion the ‘systems’ within today’s buildings: systems that temper, filter, treat and circulate indoor air, distribute and deliver cold and hot water, and power equipment. We do not use the same type of design over and over again. We stay abreast of the latest proven technologies and incorporate them into our projects where appropriate. We try to match the client’s environmental, budget, time and quality constraints with the most appropriate systems available. Specializing in new construction and renovation for a wide range of industries, we provide Design/Build services in conjunction with our own industrial and commercial contracting teams. We also provide Certified Plans and Specifications in the states of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Washington through our wholly owned subsidiary, WSC-Associates, for the purposes of obtaining construction permits and quotes for our clients.

Our engineering department is small enough to provide close personal service, yet large enough to complete substantial projects in a timely fashion. Every project is overseen by the engineering manager to act as a single source of contact for the client and to assume responsibility for the performance of all disciplines as well as responding to all client established objectives.

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED)

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating systems are the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of sustainable high performance green buildings, homes and neighborhood developments as established by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

LEED promotes a holistic approach to sustainability through site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor air quality for the benefit of our health and the environment.

The LEED portfolio of green rating systems is a roadmap for measuring, documenting and certifying the successful sustainable design process for:

  • New Commercial Construction and Major Renovation
  • Existing Building Operations and Maintenance
  • Commercial Interiors Projects
  • Core and Shell Development Projects
  • Homes
  • Schools
  • Retail
  • Neighborhood Developments
  • Guidelines for Multiple Buildings and Campus Building Projects

As a LEED Accredited Professional, the Engineering Manager here at J.E. Shekell and WSC-Associates works to develop sustainable projects incorporating energy efficient building system designs through effective and efficient design and construction concepts. Our designs balance environmental responsibility, achieve resource efficiency and provide occupant comfort and well-being. Whether or not a project seeks certified LEED status, implementation of the LEED concepts for specific items can achieve a more successful project.
