J.E. Shekell had the opportunity to build and install access stairs and plumbing access platforms for the new Vanderburgh County Jail/Sheriffs office. Our shop fabricated and installed 10 new aluminum access ladders and crossovers for egress to jail pod roofs, which allows for servicing of roofs and other mechanical equipment. J.E. Shekell also fabricated and installed 13 new aluminum platforms to allow access to mechanical chases behind walls.

Cinergy Communications

J.E. Shekell, Inc. recently completed the new 50,000 two-story square foot office and training facility for Cinergy Communications. The project included the HVAC, plumbing and electrical/data systems for the new building. J.E. Shekell, Inc. was also contracted to install the HVAC, plumbing and electrical/data for the facility’s data/communication center which was housed inside the two-story structure.

Whirlpool

J.E. Shekell, Inc. and Guardian Automotive developed and budgeted a $2.5 million retrofit plan to engineer and install a state-of-the-art heating and air conditioning system that would provide cooling via Direct Digital Controlled (DDC) Carrier Chillers. This project cooled 400,00 square feet and replaced the system installed in the 1970′s.

Vanderburgh Humane Society

J.E. Shekell, Inc. was awarded the HVAC for the new 19,500 square foot facility built to house animals for adoption in Evansville, Indiana. The HVAC system was designed to maintain proper temperature and humidity levels for the most advanced kennels and a 24-hour animal clinic. This project took approximately 3,000 man hours to complete.

Swonder Ice Arena

J.E. Shekell was awarded the electrical, controls and data contract for Swonder Ice Arena a municipal facility owned by the City of Evansville, Indiana. The new facility enabled individuals to enjoy recreational skating as well as competitive skating and hockey events which includes regulation scoreboards in each rink. The facility also includes an indoor/outdoor skate park, pro shop, fitness center and theatrical lighting and sound system.

Sitex

In 2003, Sitex Corporation built a new $7 million, 72,000-square-foot state-of-the-art laundering facility. J.E. Shekell, Inc. worked closely with John Sights to ensure the plant met all his specifications in Electrical, Mechanical Piping, Plumbing and HVAC. Sitex currently rents and cleans industrial uniforms and textiles for some 5,000 customers in roughly a 200-mile radius of Henderson, Kentucky.

United States Postal Service – Evansville

J.E. Shekell, Inc. was contracted to remove and replace the existing cooling tower at the Winfield K. Denton Federal Building which also houses the US Post Office main offices in Evansville, Indiana. The project involved the piping and electrical divisions of J.E. Shekell, Inc. The removal of the old tower and the installation of the new cooling tower required close coordination with Federal and UP Postal employee’s for access to the area and setting the new tower in one day.

Multiseal, Inc.

J.E. Shekell, Inc. designed and engineered a new forced-air system to maintain a constant 72 degree environment for MultiSeal when a 30-year old boiler failed at the start of winter. After the installation MultiSeal reported a decrease in the company’s rejection rate up to 40 percent and a noticeable reduction in energy consumption reflecting in lower utility costs along with a lowering absenteeism rate for employees.

Logan Aluminum, Inc.

J.E. Shekell, Inc. was awarded a bid at Logan Aluminum in Kentucky. The time frame from start to finish would be four days and the installation would be over existing steam lines and high voltage conduits. J. E. Shekell, Inc. fabricated and replaced 75′ of 66″ diameter ductwork and fittings over a four day period. This ductwork was used to exhaust moist air from a coating process into an exhaust stack outside the building.
